Scrap the Patchwork Girl

Scrap the Patchwork Girl has been created for the Wizard of Oz challenge at Dollstreet Dreamers. The dolls will be displayed in a special exhibit at AFIC conference in Ohio in April.

I did not want to do the Lion, Tin man, Dorothy or Scarecrow because I figured a lot of people would choose those. When I saw Scrap during a Google search, she stole my heart. I did not want to do a floppy rag doll style, as Scrap exhibits a lot of movement, so I gave her a full body armature. She also has very exaggerated cartoon like white gloves, and only 3 fingers which is typical. But I gave her 4 fingers, could not help myself,

This is not a typical doll for me to make, but was she ever fun! All the patchwork sewing was a bit labor intensive, but I think the doll captures the spirit of Scrap!

I love your scrap Patti. I have never read the Wizard of Oz books and am only familiar with the movie but I do love your doll.

Hi... great work. Just two notes: her name is Scraps (with an S at the end) and yes, she does indeed have a full five fingers on each hand.

In the book, The Patchwork Girl of Oz (which is #7 in the series of Wizard of Oz books) she is described as having pearls for teeth, and silver ears... That might be too much detail to get into, and your version of Scraps sure is fun! Good job!
